We’re very excited that Joshua Webster Jennings, son of Garry and Kim Jennings, will be baptised this Sunday at TUC!

The baptism will occur after the 9.30 am worship service, starting at approximately 10.15 am. For privacy reasons, the baptism will be live-streamed on an unlisted link. Please let us know if you would like to receive this link to join in with the baptism from home.

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.

Toowong Community Morning Tea

Wednesday 21 October
9.45am in the hall

Toowong Community Morning Tea is back! Our online morning tea gatherings have been lovely, but there’s really no substitute for meeting together in-person for a chat and a cuppa. All are welcome to join us in the hall at 9.45 am on Wednesday 21 October for a delicious home-made morning tea and a chance to catchup.

We look forward to seeing you then! Michael Berkman will be our special guest on Wednesday and will make a short presentation to the group. Michael  is the sitting member for the seat of Maiwar, representing our electorate since 2017. Michael holds a double degree in Law and Science, and before entering politics, was a public interest environmental lawyer working in a community legal centre. As a Greens MP, he is passionate about protecting the environment from unsustainable development and improving the livability of this area for all. Michael will share about his journey into politics, his motivations and vision for change, and some of the aspects of being an MP that we may not be aware of.

COVID Update

God’s love bridges social distancing

A huge thank to our TUC congregation for supporting TUC’s COVID-safe team as protocols have been put in place over the past months. This has enabled everyone to stay safe during this time.

IMG_7929.jpg

Sometimes it is challenging that as a congregation we are required to follow restrictions which are different from when we go for a coffee or to the theatre with our friends. However, be assured that the Heads of Churches (not just the Uniting Church, but across denominations) are working with Queensland Health for the best outcomes for all our congregations. It is good to remember too, that churches are regarded as one of the highest risk activities in our society because a core part of what we do is to mingle and care for each other.

What’s a pool ‘noodle’ got to do with COVID-19?

Well, a pool noodle is a good image to have in your mind when you physically distance from someone. Yes, 1.5m can be deceiving! Distancing is the single most important aspect of our COVID-safe plans.

Even though we may be weary of washing our hands, cleaning everything – again! - or not hugging or shaking hands with those with whom we have a connection at church, it is likely the same restrictions will apply to us for some time to come.

So, let us remember what Jesus says:

In this world you will have trouble, but take heart, I have overcome the world.
— John 16:33b

He is still listening to our prayers, and along with washing our hands, let us be thankful and keep praying – our prayers are the invisible threads of the fabric of faith that holds our TUC community together.

Family Sundays

25 October & 15 November
9.30 am at TUC

Since we can only have 50 people in the church building at any time, it's been difficult to run our children's ministry, KATS (Kids At Toowong on Sunday). Our families have been doing a great job leading worship and teaching their kids at home, but we would now like to welcome all the families back to the building for a couple of special Sundays!

Book in your family to come along on Sunday 25 October and Sunday 15 November for worship and KATS. We'd love to see you there!

Book here for 25 October

Would you be available for one hour between 8 am and 3 pm to help out? It’s always a lot of fun and a great chance to hang out with one another. If you can help out, please fill in your name on our google doc, or email us to let us know: lauren@toowongunitingchurch.org.au

Thank you very much for your help!
