We are the Church
Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to complete our recent survey! This has provided us with valuable insights into how online church is working and how we can be meeting your needs more fully. We were really glad to hear that everyone seems to be enjoying online worship. We’re having a lot of fun putting the service together each week and we are overwhelmed by how God is working in and through each one of you, helping you to share your gifts in wonderful ways to contribute to the worship services. However, one thing that everyone noted in the survey, was how we’re all missing being together; getting to chat with one another, hear about each other’s lives and care for one another. This is definitely an important part of being Jesus’ church together! While we still can’t gather all together in the church building, we do invite you to be part of our Home Church event on Sunday 26 July at 9.30 am. This will give us a chance to gather safely in small groups so we can worship together and share our lives with one another. There’s also a great precedent for gathering in homes for worship! This is how the early church started, and it’s how Christianity is spreading right now in many developing countries. Have a look at this recent article by Simon Gomersall about the home church movement. While we do look forward to being able to all worship back in the TUC building once the restrictions are eased, we know that we are the church, not the building. Perhaps this home church model of meeting in smaller groups may be something we continue doing along with whole church gatherings in the future?
We’d love to hear from you! Let us know your thoughts about online church:
We’re inviting everyone to gather in small groups in homes on Sunday 26 July for the 9.30am live-stream service. While the maximum number of people that can gather in homes is 20 (subject to the 4m2 rule), you may find your home is more suited to having just a couple of people over, and that’s okay! Home churches can be any size!
Do you want to host a home church?
If you want to host a group in your home, please email us to let us know by 8th July. We’ll let you know the guidelines to be COVID-Safe in your home and send you a risk assessment to complete. We can help you complete the risk assessment if needed. We will also need to know who you’re inviting in order to keep proper records of attendance.

Bible Reading:
Jonah 3:10 - 4:11
Songs:
God is for us (in A)
Holy is the Lord (in F)
What a Beautiful Name (in D)
Desert Song (in D)
It's not wrong to feel angry. But it's always worth asking where such powerful emotions come from. Perhaps that's why God asks Jonah the vital question: "Why are you angry?"
With all that's happening in the USA at the moment, and with our own history of violence here in Australia, God's question and Jonah's answer are well worth reflecting on.
We’ll be watching this video on Sunday before Matt opens up the passage from Jonah 3:10 - 4:11 more for us.
