Our minister, Matt Smith, will be taking a Long Service Leave from November 27th to January 23rd, 2024.
During Matt's absence, we're excited to welcome Rev David MacGregor, who will be joining TUC for the next two months to lend his guidance and support.
David MacGregor is 44 years married to Dale. Together they have three sons, Joel, Jeremy and Nathan. David grew up in Indooroopilly and fully embraced everything “Indooroopilly”: church (Presbyterian/ Uniting) schools and shopping centre.
David and Dale’s young adult years at ‘Indro’ were richly formative, coinciding with the birthing of the UCA, in embracing discipleship, music ministry, songwriting and working with children & families.
After 12 years as a primary school teacher, David responded to God’s ongoing ministry calling and began serving, initially at Sunnybank UC in growing Christian Education, worship and music ministry and small groups. David was ordained as Minister of the Word in 2001. By his retirement from full time ministry in 2021, David had served also at North Rockhampton, Cairns, (the then) Forest Lake College, Indooroopilly, Oxley and Tarragindi/ Southside; as well as with the synod Schools Commission, Assembly Transforming Worship Panel/Worship Working Group, presbytery pastoral relations committees and Emmaus Communities. David is a Friend of the Iona Community, is a published worship songwriter and hosts the Together to Celebrate lectionary music-resource website. Nurturing a community’s worship, compassionate and faith-formation/discipleship life remain ongoing ministry passions.
Outside of Christian ministry, David’s passions include travel, coffee-shopping, anything musical, reading, beach walking, sport (esp. cricket & Brisbane Broncos) and time with Dale and family. Always seeking to be open to God who in grace “ makes all things new”.
